The term "gaiwan" is translated from the Chinese words for "lidded bowl." A good gaiwan can make just about any tea.
From Chinese green tea to Taiwanese oolongs to vintage pu-erh, all full leaf teas (except for matcha) can be steeped in a gaiwan for multiple infusions. This basic gaiwan is made of porcelain and has a nicely curved lip that makes handling easier for beginners and people with smaller hands. We use it daily in our tea room.
